Printing

I wanted to have another go at printing. I wasn't really feeling my vegetable prints or found objects, mainly because my options for that are quite limited. I started with just drawings/scribbling initial feedback from my survey. I went for this motif of big round sunglasses, lipsticks and hair claws. I quite like how these look but they're not the best. I think they stray too much from letterforms and it feels a bit off taste upon reflection. I do quite like the hand-print ones though, they make a nice contrast when next to each other.

I developed this by trying to monoprint on pages from old books. This was so fun to produce. The paper from some of the pages were glossy so they took up more ink than I expected, they're all a bit over-saturated but I still think they add a really interesting texture to the final experiment. I love how it adds an organic element to the original books that follow quite strict rules. For example, I printed over a page from a play; plays are formated to strict and precisely it felt a bit rebellious to mess it up a bit. My particular favourites are the ones with images, having the ink and 'grunginess interact with the photographs makes it feel a bit more human to me. It feel reclaimed.
